Illustrated essay in Kids VT Magazine

The winters in Vermont and Finland are very similar. Yet, only in Finland are the babies commonly taken outside to sleep during the cold weather. In this short essay, I discuss the differences in parents’ responses to winter in Vermont and Finland. Instead of just pointing out the cultural difference, I hoped to alleviate the fear or stress related to the baby’s first winter and offered the tips that are passed on to every Finnish parent in the form of their Social Insurance Insitution’s baby box, including the combination of essential winter gear that keeps the baby warm.
